ORDINANCE NO. 2021-03

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 18 “ZONING” OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF GLASFORD, 1987 AS AMENDED

WHEREAS, an Ordinance prohibiting shipping containers used for storage buildings is in the best interest of the public health and safety of the citizens of the Village of Glasford and for the protection of the aesthetic quality of the Village.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF GLASFORD, PEORIA COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:

Section One:

That Title 18 “Zoning” of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Glasford, is amended by adding as new Chapter 18.46 “Restrictions on Storage Buildings” the following provision:

“Section 18.46 Storage Containers.

Section 18.46.010. Shipping containers as storage buildings prohibited.

A. In order to protect the public health and safety and the aesthetic quality of the Village, except as provided herein, the placement and use of any shipping container as a building, accessory building, or living unit is prohibited on residentially zoned and other zoned land where residential uses are established.

B. No person shall place or cause to be placed or use or permit the use of any shipping container as a building, accessory building, or living unit on residentially zoned land /or land used for residential purposes. Licensed and bonded contractors may use shipping containers for temporary housing of equipment and materials during construction as authorized.”

SECTION TWO:

This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in pamphlet form according to law. This ordinance shall be effective ten days after publication as provided by law.
